Microshading is a two-step process done by a machine for clients who prefer fuller brows but still a very soft finish. This technique mimics the look achieved with an eyebrow pencil; filled in and shaded. The tails of the brows are darker and fade into a lighter beginning to the brow giving an ombre effect. The results will be waterproof, smudge-proof and natural. Because it is a two-step process, touch-ups are required after 6-8 weeks of the initial service to yield better results and pigment retention. After the 6-8 week touch-up, yearly color boosters are highly recommended. If you have combination or oily skin, this would be the best option for you. Ombre brows can last 1-3 years depending on skin type, skin care, aftercare and lifestyle.
-
Your brow shape will be determined using five key measurements on the brow bone based on your face shape and structure. Though these points will be used as a guide, Meagan will not start the procedure until you approve or completely love the outlined shape.
-
The procedure is done using a microshading pen with a prepackaged, sterile, single-use needle (similar to a tattoo machine). With the appropriate amount of pressure, the skin is shaded with the machine moving in a stippling motion as the pigment is deposited into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin).
-
The client’s comfort is a priority for Meagan. Because of this, topical anesthetics are applied to the area to numb during your procedure. On a scale from 1-10, most clients rated the procedure as 1-4.
-
Generally, an appointment is scheduled for 3 hours; however, the procedure will take up to 90 minutes of that time. The remaining time is used for consultation, evaluation and any Q&As that are unanswered. Additional time may be used to ensure you are pleased with your procedure.
-
Microshading (Ombre) is recommended for those with oily skin.
Shading places more pigment under the skin so if a client is oily, one should not look completely faded if any color is lost.

All semi-permanent eyebrow services will require a 6-8 week touch-up perfecting session to perfect your brows and ensure longevity. Failure to book your touch-up within 6-8 weeks will result in no guarantee that your brows will have the longevity that you desire. Touch-ups are not included in the initial service price.
After the 6-8 week touch-up, yearly touch-ups are recommended.
-
Skin types, lifestyle, age, medications/medical conditions, skin products and daily activity play a major role in the longevity of your semi-permanent brows application. Most eyebrows application will last 8-12 months, while others may last longer. Please note that since the pigment is not implanted as deep as a traditional tattoo, your pigment will fade gradually until it eventually fades away.
***This is a generalization of healing time and results. Everyone heals differently. The full healing process could take 2-6 weeks. During this time, your brows will go through different phases. They will lighten up, soften, and slightly decrease in size.***
WHAT TO EXPECT
Day 1
You may experience redness; Depending on the pigment used you may also see an orange cast where the pigment is placed. This is due to oxidization and should disappear in a few hours.
Day 2
The pigment in the brow area may appear visibly darker than the initial color of the first day. This is a results of the natural oxidation process that takes place in the skin once pigment has been implanted. The pigment is reacting slowly with oxygen in the air, turning it darker.
Day 3
The skin in the brow area should form a crust-like appearance.
Day 4-8
The skin in the brow area will continue to crust. During this time, you should experience shedding of the previously formed crust. The pigment behind will look VERY FAINT! DO NOT PANIC! The color will return gradually in the weeks to come. Please do not pick at the scabbing skin, instead allow it to naturally shed. IMPORTANT: If you peel the crust prematurely, you take the risk of losing the pigment behind it or minor scarring.
Day 9+
The crust should have completely shed and the pigment behind will still look very faint. The average client will see a return in the color by week two. However, the average healing time is four weeks.
It is common to experience the “ghosting stage”. This is when a layer of skin grows over your “tattoo” and your brows seem to be completely faded. This usually lasts a week or so until your skin regenerates and the pigment reappears.
Day 30
Your brows should appear 30% lighter, and with a soft powdery finish. Please be advised that these are semi-permanent brows and will gradually fade. Your lifestyle and skin type determines the longevity of the brows. Avoid direct sun exposure, use sunscreen daily and enjoy your new brows!
After the procedure, the area treated will be darker and more intense. This is normal. This will last a few days until the skin heals and peels and naturally exfoliates and the true color emerges.
During the healing process, you may develop dry, or flaky and itchy skin around the treated area. This is completely normal. It is important not to rub, pick or scratch this area.
It is also important to note that even with proper aftercare, your brows can result in patches or fading spots. This is also completely normal as your body is trying to recover and reject this foreign object from your face. This is what your 6-8 week touch-up is intended for; to replace any hair stokes or pigment lost during your initial healing process.
